Poetry Corner #8: Dreams
Who can make our dreams come true? The answer may be obvious but not easy.
The unexpected turns in life can either knock us out or propel us into a better direction; a future that we only dreamed about but did not dare to shape out. So what does it take to make our dreams come true? and why does it seem that only a few have the guts to turn their dreams into reality.
Sometimes the answer may be obvious, but it’s still not an easy one. Sometimes it takes a life-changing event, like getting laid off from work or migrating to another country, or getting a scary diagnosis to kick our minds into action and give our dreams a chance. Sometimes our dreams aren’t for us; we wish and hope for our loved ones to become someone, to acquire something, to get somewhere. We work hard for those dreams.
So, can we only dream or make our dreams come true when “life gives us lemons”? What if we could be so alert, so in tune with ourselves, that we can ignore the noise and listen closely to what our heart desires.
This poem is dedicated to the dreamers. May you soon wake up.
